The World's Highest Certified Marathon
Now in its 13th edition, the Ladakh Marathon has built a genuine reputation as one of the most demanding endurance and destination-sport experiences anywhere — high-altitude Himalayan terrain combined with immersive mountain culture.
Six Formats, Two Very Different Experiences
The 5km, 11.2km, half and full marathon are genuinely mass-accessible entry points. The Khardung La Challenge (72km, climbing to 17,618 feet) and Silk Route Ultra (122km) are a different story entirely — application-based, strictly capped, requiring demonstrated prior marathon/ultra credentials, medical clearance and mandatory acclimatization protocols.
Genuinely Sustainable
Operating under a "Leave Only Footprints Behind" philosophy since 2019, the race has eliminated single-use plastics, uses biodegradable rice-husk cups and reusable steel serveware at aid stations — genuine environmental commitment in a fragile high-altitude ecosystem.
Daily Chore Take
This is one of the rare races that genuinely serves two completely different audiences well — a real, accessible Himalayan running experience for most entrants, and one of the most serious high-altitude ultra tests anywhere for those who qualify.
