A gravel race at the foot of the Brocken

From April 16–18, 2027, Drei Annen Hohne near Wernigerode once again becomes the meeting point for gravel riders across Germany. HarzGravel 2027 combines a competitive gravel race over 66 or 100 kilometers with a community weekend of a group ride, guided course preview and pasta party. Start and finish are at the gravel lot of the Harz narrow-gauge railway, right by the Brocken.

Early-bird prices apply, per the organizer, until September 21, 2026, after which further (not yet published) price tiers follow. Elevation gain is not yet published — please don't estimate; ask the organizer directly before registering.

Routes run through gravel, sand, firm forest floor and demanding forest sections — signposted, with marshals at key junctions. No minimum speed, but a planned course close at 16:00.

Friday, April 16 — 13:00 community ride

Saturday, April 17 — venue opens + bib pickup from 13:00, 14:00 guided course preview, 17:00–19:00 pasta party (€10/portion, bookable separately)

Sunday, April 18 (race day) — bib pickup from 08:00, 10:00 start 100km, 10:30 start 66km, 14:00/14:30 award ceremonies, ~16:00 planned course close

Registration & entry fee

Online registration until April 14, 2027, 12:00, or until the participant cap is reached. Individual and team registration possible, payment via SEPA direct debit or PayPal. On-site late registration possible (Saturday from 15:00, Sunday from 08:00) for an extra €10.

Cancellation/transfer: Until February 19, 2027 — transfer your spot, get a wildcard for next year (€10 processing fee) or a refund (minus €10). From February 20, transfer only for €10. From March 26, no regular cancellation possible, only on-site transfer.

Entry requirements

Minimum age 16 (minors need parental consent), with or without a racing license. Only technically sound gravel bikes allowed — not allowed: mountain bikes, e-bikes, recumbent bikes, handbikes, trailers, triathlon/time-trial bars, aero extensions, aluminum or glass bottles. Helmets mandatory on all routes.

Classifications

Individual classification by gender and distance (places 1–3), plus age groups from U20 to 60+. Team classification from 3 people (open or mixed with at least one woman and one man), scored on the three fastest times.

What's included

Chip timing, technical bike service, on-course and finish nutrition, changing rooms, free bike wash, online results and certificates (within 24h), finisher medal, event photos published.

Who is this event for?

Gravel riders with solid base endurance, race first-timers on the 66km distance, experienced athletes on the 100km route, anyone who likes forest trails and changing terrain — as an individual or team, licensed or not.
