The Route
Start and finish on Karolinenstraße by Hamburg Messe. The route runs along the Reeperbahn, past the Fischmarkt and the Landungsbrücken with views of the Elbphilharmonie, through the Speicherstadt, along the Jungfernstieg, and once around the Außenalster, through green stretches like Stadtpark, and through St. Pauli, Winterhude, Ohlsdorf, Eppendorf and Rotherbaum. Nearly flat with only a few gentle rises — ideal for personal bests.

Registration
Registration for 2027 opens 29 April 2026 at 10:00. In previous years spots sold out months in advance — early registration is recommended.
Expo
Marathon Hamburg Expo in Hall A3 of Hamburg Messe, Friday and Saturday before the race, with up to 80 exhibitors.

Course records: Amos Kipruto 2:03:46 (men, 2025), Brillian Kipkoech 2:17:05 (women, 2026). Around 46,000 registrations across all races in recent years — Germany's biggest spring running event.
Getting There
Arrival is recommended by S-Bahn (S2/S5 to Dammtor) or U-Bahn (U1 to Stephansplatz) — road closures and limited parking are in effect around Hamburg Messe.
