The Iron Town
First held in Tenby in 2011, IRONMAN Wales has built a reputation as one of the toughest and most emotionally memorable full-distance races anywhere — the combination of steep Pembrokeshire hills and genuinely overwhelming local crowd support has made its finish line one of the most celebrated in the sport.
The Course
A two-loop sea swim at Tenby's North Beach, a hilly 180km bike leg through Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and a four-loop marathon through the medieval town walls — tens of thousands of spectators line the route throughout.

This is a genuinely hard course, not a PB race — but for the finish-line experience alone, IRONMAN Wales is consistently rated among the best atmospheres in the sport. Book Tenby accommodation early; the whole town fills up for race weekend.
