Why It's Worth Watching
DEKA is the functional-fitness brand from the team behind Spartan Race, and it's positioned across fitness media right now as one of the leading alternatives to Hyrox — standardised zones, a growing global calendar, and a genuine world championship pathway. Tenerife closes out DEKA's Spanish season, pairing competition with a genuine travel destination.
The Format
DEKA FIT combines 10 standardised functional zones with 160 m of running before each one, totalling roughly a mile (1.6 km) of movement between stations. Zones progress in intensity — the final zones (6–10) demand full-body effort. Other distances on offer: DEKA MILE (a shorter running-focused version) and DEKA STRONG (all 10 zones, no running).
Date & Format Schedule
- Saturday 21 November — DEKA FIT (7:00), DEKA MILE (17:15), DEKA STRONG (19:15)
- Sunday 22 November — DEKA MILE Teams (8:00), DEKA FIT Teams (9:00)
Categories
From entry-level "Age Group" heats up to competitive "Elite" waves, plus a Teams format for two athletes to complete the course together.
Who It's For
Athletes who want a standardised, comparable fitness test (same 10 zones as every other DEKA event worldwide) combined with a genuine warm-weather destination trip at the tail end of the European season.
Getting There
Tenerife is served by two airports (Tenerife North and Tenerife South) with frequent connections from mainland Spain and other European hubs.
