Italy's Second City, Second-Largest Marathon
Established in 1984, the Florence Marathon has grown into Italy's second-largest marathon after Rome — a genuinely major race capped around 13,000 full-marathon entrants, with strong crowd support but none of the congestion of a Major.
The Course
A flat, largely ramp-free loop starting and finishing at Piazza del Duomo, passing the Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria and Piazza Pitti — genuinely fast enough for a serious time attempt while running almost entirely through UNESCO World Heritage streets.
The Weather
Late November in Florence runs cool and often damp — expect race-morning temperatures around 11°C with a real chance of rain, so pack a throwaway layer and a rain shell rather than assuming Italian sunshine.
