WHY THIS CHORE

SHOW UP READY.

Not a PB course, but a memory course — mildly hilly, sightseeing-heavy, and home to one of the most emotional finishes in German marathon running.

WHAT TO EXPECT

VERIFIED EVENT DETAILS · DAILY CHORE EDITORIAL COMMENTARY

The Route

Start at Spiridon-Louis-Ring in the Olympic Park, finish at Willi-Daume-Platz by the Olympic lake. The single-loop course runs through the English Garden, past Art Nouveau villas in Bogenhausen, through Werksviertel, over the Isar bridge into Glockenbachviertel, to Gärtnerplatz, past Sendlinger Tor over Marienplatz to the National Theatre and Odeonsplatz — including the Siegestor — before heading back towards the Olympic Park. Mildly hilly, not a classic PB course.

Races & Start Times

  • Marathon (incl. relay) — start 9:00, course closes around 15:20
  • Half Marathon
  • 10 km Run — starts in Werksviertel, 13:30
  • Kids Run (10 October, day before) — 400 m / 2.1 km / 4.2 km by age group
  • Friendship Run — an inclusive, wheelchair-accessible run

The Finish

The race finishes through the stadium entrance onto the track of the 1972 Olympic Stadium — in front of thousands of spectators in the stands, one of the most emotional finishes on the German racing calendar.

Expo

GMM Village at the Olympic Stadium, Friday 6 October (14:00–19:00) and Saturday 7 October (9:30–18:00), free entry.

Good to Know

The date falls right after Oktoberfest — hotel prices in Munich are correspondingly high, so early booking is recommended. Over 20,000 participants are expected.
