The Route
Start at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge, finish on the Coolsingel in front of the town hall. The course is flat and largely traffic-free — one of the fastest marathon courses in the world, on which world records have been broken more than once (men's course record: 2:03:36, Bashir Abdi).
Around the Event
- 10 km "City Run" — start/finish on the Coolsingel, via Leuvehaven to the Erasmus Bridge and back through the harbour district
- Kids Runs — 1 km and 2.5 km for young runners from Rotterdam
Who it's for
Athletes chasing a personal best on a fast, flat course, as well as first-time marathoners — thanks to excellent organisation and one of the biggest crowds on the European racing calendar (up to 900,000 spectators lining the course).
Registration
Online via the official NN Marathon Rotterdam website, with tiered pricing phases. International participants collect their bib at the WTC building with an e-ticket and ID.
History
The Rotterdam Marathon has run since 1981 and has been ranked by Runner's World among the world's top 10 marathons. It has been held every April since its third edition.
