The 2027 Double Format
For the first time in its history, the London Marathon expands to two days in 2027: Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April 2027. Both days follow the same iconic route, with a total of 100,000 places available — a response to a record ballot of over 1.3 million applications for 2027. Runners cannot race on both days, but may combine one race day with the virtual "MyWay" format.
The Route
A flat point-to-point course with only one small rise. Triple start out of Greenwich Park and Blackheath, looping through Greenwich and across Tower Bridge, circling Canary Wharf, running along the Thames past the Tower of London, through central London via Trafalgar Square to The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.
Context
The TCS London Marathon is one of the Abbott World Marathon Majors and is considered the world's biggest single-day fundraising event — over £1 billion raised for charity since 1981.
Registration
General entry is via ballot. The ballot for 2027 ran from 24 April to 1 May 2026. Anyone already registered in the ballot is automatically considered for one of the two race days.
Time Limit
The current course cut-off is 19:00 on race day (subject to change) — only finishers within that window receive a medal and appear in the results.
