The Route
Start on the Champs-Élysées at the Arc de Triomphe, passing Place de la Concorde, the Louvre, Palais Garnier, Place de la Bastille and Notre-Dame, continuing through the Bois de Vincennes and Bois de Boulogne, finishing near the Arc de Triomphe. Flat, fast, with a spectacular backdrop along the entire route.

Field Size
Up to 60,000 runners from around 145 nations — one of the largest marathon fields in the world.
Registration
Entry is first-come, first-served rather than a lottery, released in price tiers — the earlier you register, the cheaper it gets. Registration opens 23 April 2026, closing 15 January 2027.
Good to Know
A medical certificate confirming fitness to compete is required for the Paris Marathon (no more than a year old).
Expo
Salon du Running, Porte de Versailles — three days before the race, drawing over 80,000 visitors and more than 200 exhibitors from the running world.
History
The Paris Marathon in its current form (42.195 km) has been held since 1976.
