WHY THIS CHORE
SHOW UP READY.
Most divisions qualify through an online qualifier (April 2026). Not a beginner-friendly main event given the skill demands — but the WCN Hybrid Open division offers a more accessible entry point for pairs.

Inclusive functional fitness in Barcelona
From September 11–13, 2026, Barcelona hosts one of Europe's most unusual functional fitness events. WODCELONA combines performance-driven competition with a consistently inclusive concept — Standard, Adaptive, Teen, Masters and Team athletes compete across more than 20 categories and skill levels over one shared weekend, organized by the nonprofit Limited Edition Athletes.
The road to Barcelona: online qualifier
For most categories, participation starts with an online qualifier: registration opens February 2026, qualifier workouts in April, final leaderboard in May. The first published standard test (26.1) is a 9-minute AMRAP of wall walks, bar-facing burpees and snatches at increasing weight. Exception: Masters Teams 120 (combined age ≥120 years) get direct access to the final, per the qualifier page, without an online qualifier.
Divisions overview
Elite & RX — for very experienced athletes: ring/bar muscle-ups, strict HSPU, handstand walk, pistols, double unders. Reference weights: Snatch 70kg (M) / 45kg (F), Clean & Jerk 90kg (M) / 60kg (F) — guidance only, not guaranteed final weights.
Intermediate & Open — more accessible loads and movements: pull-ups, toes-to-bar, wall walks, air squats.
Teens (13–15 and 16–18) — technically and load-wise adapted for age.
Masters — for experienced older athletes, including the Team 120 special rule.
Adaptive Divisions — WODCELONA's defining feature: categories for Seated, Upper/Lower Extremity, Neuromuscular, Sensory, Short Stature and Intellectual — each with adapted movements and standards, some requiring proof of a permanent functional limitation.
*Note: the English and Spanish websites list slightly different total category counts (16 vs. 24) — on this page we deliberately speak generally of "more than 20 categories".*
WCN Hybrid Challenge (September 12–13)
Running alongside the main competition: two-person teams (Male/Female/Mixed Pairs), Pro or Open division, also open to Adaptive, Masters and Teen athletes. The workout combines 6× 800m synchronized running (4.8km total) with stations: Burpee Broad Jumps, Sandbag Carry, Ski-Erg, Sandbag Lunges, Sled Pull, Wall Balls. This is WODCELONA's most accessible entry point if the main competition feels too demanding.
Entry fee
Online qualifier registration costs, per Circle21, between €35 and €390, depending on division, age and entry format (Individual, Team, Adaptive) — which exact price applies to which division isn't clearly broken down on the public page. Whether qualified athletes face an additional separate fee for the Barcelona final isn't publicly confirmed yet — please check the final rulebook/registration process. The Hybrid Challenge has its own, separately-checked price.
The nonprofit background
WODCELONA is designed as a nonprofit event. Revenue and attention support the work of Limited Edition Athletes for people with disabilities or an elevated risk of social exclusion — this sets it apart from typical commercial functional fitness competitions.
Who is this event for?
Experienced functional fitness athletes, Elite/RX competitors, adaptive athletes, teen and masters athletes, Male/Female/Mixed teams, hybrid race athletes, coaches and training communities, spectators who want to experience inclusive elite sport. The main competition has limited beginner-friendliness due to qualification and complex skills — the WCN Hybrid Open division offers a more accessible path, though it still requires solid running and strength endurance.
