Why 2026 Is a Big Deal for Vichy
After several years running only the 70.3 distance, IRONMAN Vichy brings back the full 226 km format for its 11th edition — a genuine "return of the king" story for a race widely loved by French triathletes even though it's less globally famous than Nice or Frankfurt.
The Course
The swim takes place in Lac d'Allier, a calm, artificial lake right in the centre of Vichy with almost no current and warm late-August water (20–24°C) — one of the most beginner-friendly full-distance swim venues in Europe. The 180 km bike leg rolls through the Bourbonnais countryside along the Allier river valley on a genuinely flat profile by IRONMAN standards. The 42.2 km run finishes through Vichy's town centre and along the riverbanks.
Same Weekend, Two Distances
The full-distance race shares its weekend with IRONMAN 70.3 Vichy (1.9 km swim / 90 km bike / 21.1 km run), so the whole town turns into a triathlon festival with every distance and ability level represented at once.
